MODEL HISTORY

The BMW M3 (E30) Sport Evolution (sometimes referred to as the Evo III) was the final type of the M3 E30. Its engine received an increased bore and a modified crankshaft to achieve a total volume of 2.5L. The valve side was also modified (enlarged) and the camshaft received sharper cams. Oil injectors have been added to cool the bottom of the piston. All cars of this evolution were equipped with a catalytic converter as standard, yet there was a relatively significant increase in power (for an atmospheric engine) to 235 hp. Of course, it was not so much about the performance of the civilian version - the new unit created a more potent basis for racing versions. The engines of this evolution can be clearly identified by the red rubber around the ignition cables of the spark plugs. The transmission stayed the same, but a shorter final drive was used.

The production of the Sport Evolution variant took place in the period from the end of 1989 to the spring of 1990 and a total of 600 units were created. Like the previous Evo II, the Sport Evo had thinner windows, a lightweight trunk and bumpers, and fog lights were replaced by the air intake for the front brake pads. However, the difference, compared to the Evo II, consisted, among other things, in the unique adjustable spoilers of the front bumper and rear wing, wider front fenders, radiator grille and lower ride height by another 10 mm compared to the standard M3. The car could only be purchased in two colors - Jet Black and Brilliant Red. The wheels were the optional alloy 16" in a special shade. Due to the weight, all elements of the comfort equipment were removed from the car as standard and were supplied only on request - the weight reduction also applied to such trifles as the interior handles or rooflight.

OUR CAR

This particular car was delivered to a customer in Italy on 16 May, 1990 via a BMW dealer, Carteni. The car was in Italy until 2002. Since 2003, it has been owned by a customer in Denmark and, from there, it was sold back to Germany in 2007. There, it was sold to a private customer, from whom our company bought it in August 2012.

The car has undergone a thorough overhaul of all parts and is in the condition of a new car. It is part of the collection, stored in an air-conditioned hall and underwent only maintenance rides. Its history is completely clear and provable from the documents.

The car was sold in March 2024.
